Change is good.
And things, they are most definitely a-changin’.
We’ve packed up from our longtime home in the Renton WA area and relocated to a beautiful new dream studio space in Puyallup. Far from just an upgrade – we’re talking a complete transformation. The new home base gives us ample room to breathe, create, and host in ways we could only dream about before.
The time for dreaming is over… we’re wide awake for the next chapter in the studio’s history.
The new studio spans multiple big rooms with 16′ vaulted ceilings, natural light, and an open vibe, matching the energy we put into every project. Whether we’re tracking a full band live, layering 50 vocal tracks, mixing a masterpiece or just hanging out, this space was purpose-built built from the ground up to inspire and to sound amazing. It’s big, gorgeous, and ready for what comes next, as are we all at MKU.

MKU will capture the essence of the performances in their spacious, acoustically-treated rooms, and – lovingly and with great care – shape them into your musical legacy.

With four decades of experience and an atmosphere of positivity and exuberant energy, we offer private lessons and ongoing mentorship (both remotely and in person), along with full access to our studios, engineers and producers to help you unlock your creative potential and make your musical goals a reality. Meet Matt
Who’s behind all this?
MKUltra Studios is owned and operated by longtime local artist Matt Kristiansen, and singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist for Half Acre Day, The Filthy Hypocrites, Archaeologists Discover a Miracle and other projects. Matt has been recording and producing music since the 80s, when he would sneak into his older brother’s room to use his Tascam 4-Track cassette recorder (bro also had an amazing Rickenbacker 4001 bass that Matt covets to this day – wherever it is). Having been given the opportunity to build his dream recording space from the ground up, Matt is reopening MKU in Puyallup, WA and diving into his love for creating music with others. Come conspire with him to infiltrate this broken industry, and be part of the inside job that will finally fix it.
